Deep Sleep 1 & 2 at BR, Image.jpg

Deep Sleep 1.0 - Part 1 (Feb 2)

Start with a little bit of self-inquiry about your own sleep habits and learn some surprising facts about the importance of a good night's rest. Then we’ll go through “Top Ten” list of tricks to improve your sleep set-up along with tips about how to put them into practice. Finally, you’ll learn an easy “goodbye-restlessness, hello-sleep” meditation/breathing practice and finish with a short guided full body relaxation that you can try in bed at home.

Register in advance to receive pre-workshop information to bring with you. Wear loose comfortable clothing & bring a yoga mat for seated breathing practice & reclined relaxation. (Cushion for sitting and other personal props optional.)

Deep Sleep 2.0 – Part 2 (Mar 16)

Now that you’ve had a chance to adjust your sleep set-up and test-drive some practices at home, you can revisit those and ask further questions. Suzanne will then lead you through gentle physical postures appropriate for winding down / bed-time. Finally, tuck yourself in for a soothing Yoga Nidra / guided long deep relaxation to “catch up” on some much needed rest and calm the nervous system.  P.S. Did you know that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is said to give you the equivalency of 3-5 hours of sleep?

NOTE: You can come to this workshop individually but a prerequisite of Sleep 1.0 will be helpful. Wear loose comfortable clothing for gentle yoga postures. Bring your own yoga mat, blanket, pillow, cozy cover-up clothes, & eye-mask (if you have one) for Nidra.

Mindfulness Meditation for Beginners 1.0:

Wed 5:30-6:30 pm, Next Session TBA (8 weeks)

M & M (Mindfulness & Meditation) is like candy for the soul! Join Suzanne for a series of strategies to bring mindfulness into your everyday life (movement, eating, breathing, communication, thoughts, etc.). Learn to use meditation as a tool for "being present" in the here and now! You'll delve into some of the yogic philosophy, modern science, and anatomy behind the practice. Also, each week you will "test drive" various easy-to-access approaches to M & M and find out what works for YOU! Suitable for beginners AND for the more experienced.

People have been meditating for thousands of years, but while the practice is not new, science is just catching up to its benefits. Studies show meditation and mindfulness can have a positive impact on stress, anxiety, focus, creativity and even relationships. Sitting still and exploring our inner world can be a bit intimidating, so take an introductory 8 week course so you can learn some simple tips and tricks to help you get into a mindful and meditative head space.

Mindfulness Meditation 2.0:

Wed 5:30-7 pm,
Mar 14- Apr 25, 2018 (6 weeks) (no class Mar 28)

If you're an experienced yogi / meditator or have attended my previous 8-wk session, I invite you to explore mindfulness & meditation further. We will expand on mantra, explore some interesting breathwork, and delve more deeply into the realm of sound & energy with crystal bowls and other energy-sensing tools. There will be some self-exploration regarding your own Chakras (energy centres) and your unique Ayurvedic tendencies & needs (personality, natural skills, body type).  NOTE: Ayurveda is an ancient art of Natural Medicine, often considered to be the "sister science" that complements yoga practices.

Discover Your Dosha Workshop

Saturday Apr 7, 2018 - 11 am - 3 pm (includes lunch)

Discover your Dosha -Vata? Pitta? Kapha?. Learn to keep it balanced so you can maximize the positive potential of YOUR natural "lens on life" (skills, abilities, interests, body type, etc.) You will explore the qualities of each of the 3 Ayurvedic Doshas through fun activities, movement (gentle yoga), & food selection. Delicious buffet provided!

What's a Dosha you ask? According to Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, we are all born with a specific mind-body type. This is referred to as your Dosha. Your Dosha is said to be determined at birth and is your "natural state". This state is permanent and makes you who you are (personality, body type, natural outlook, skills and interests). In this workshop you'll learn how making subtle (and not so subtle) shifts in your daily life can have a big impact on how balanced and connected you feel.

Food plays a huge role in keeping our Doshas balanced, so with the help of T's Bakery Cafe, the workshop will include with a light dosha-specific buffet.

PLEASE NOTE: Early registration is highly encouraged so we can provide you with an advance questionnaire and ensure your brunch will align with your dosha.
